A reflection of St. George Church: Back to in-person Liturgy!
We are happy to announce that St. George Antiochian Church has now been celebrating liturgy in person. We welcome all our parishioners to return to church following the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions that were imposed by the Government on March 2020. Your physical absence from the church was deeply felt, especially during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. During this difficult time, we were compelled to celebrate the Liturgy through our live-streaming process and sadly it was not the same. All of us, gradually adjusted to the ‘new reality’ with some levels of hope and anticipation that we would return to in person attendance. As difficult and challenging as the lockdown experience was for everyone, it provided us with opportunities for increased self-awareness, strengthening of marital and family relationships, and above all, an enhanced relationship with God. Many of us realized the importance of the church and how it plays an important relationship with ourselves and most importantly, our family life.
In retrospect, Covid 19 required our parishioners to accept the ‘new way’ of celebrating the liturgy for the common good and protection of lives. As a parish community, we empathize with some of our parishioners who lost their loved ones during the Covid-19 lockdown. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May the Memory of your loved ones and those of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, be Eternal. Amen.
We will continue to adopt a gradual, considered, and structured approach to our public worship, until further notice. We encourage you to participate with us in all areas of the fellowship through prayer and through your support of our social groups as we continue to build and strengthen St. George Antiochian Orthodox Community.
Lastly, we want to thank you for your generosity through your financial donations to assist our church of St. George to keep its doors open during the toughest times. Our Parishioners were instrumental in keeping our church alive and we are truly grateful for your generosity.
