“Thy Nativity, O Christ our God, hath given rise to the light of knowledge in the world; for they that worshipped the stars did learn therefrom to worship Thee, O Sun of Justice, and to know that from the east of the Highest Thou didst come. O Lord, glory to Thee.”
Dear to Christ the members of our God protected parish,
Christ is born! Glorify Him.
Fr. Tom Hopko writes in his book “The Winter Pascha” on page 117 “God Himself is called the Sun in the biblical wrtings (see PS 84:11). As the source of light , and Light itself, God gives this same title to His only-begotten Son who appears on earth as the dawn of a new day, the Day of the Lord which enlightens those who sit in darkness and in the land of the shadow of death (see Is 9:2, 42:6-7)…..Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” Jn 8:12. “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (Jn 9:5).
I would like to wish you all during this Holy season a blessed Nativity. May the birth of Christ brings us all peace. May this Nativity brings us His “Sun” to our lives, homes, and our families. In this time of great difficulty because of this pandemic, may the “Sun of Righteousness”, Christ the Light of the World, shines within our hearts His LIGHT. May we find warmth in Him. I embrace you and with the kiss of Christ I greet you: Christ is born! Glorify Him.
Don’t forget to pray with us on the December 24th in the morning and evening. The Nativity Day in the morning. Nothing will separate us from Christ and each other, not even a pandemic. May the blessing of the born child Christ be with all of you.
I love you, your Father and servant,
