“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ Who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Dear followers of Christ at St. George parish,
St. Paul invites us who put on Christ to crucify ourselves and to live only for Christ. Fr. LeMasters writes: “it means that we must die to our sinful desires and actions and that we must crucify the habits of thought, word, and deed that lead us to worship and serve ourselves instead of God and neighbour.”
The ladies organization will be meeting after Liturgy this Sunday to elect their officers. All ladies 18 and above who are Orthodox Christians are members of the ladies organization. Please, join in person or through zoom.
Please, follow the health department guidelines for distancing, wearing our masks, and sanitizing our hands.
Don’t forget there is a box in the narthex (where the candles are) for your donations.
Bible Study on Wednesday at 7:30 PM on zoom.
The General Assembly will be on September 27th at 7 PM at the church.
Come stand for Life, join other members of our community on October 4th after Liturgy in front of the church to stand for life and the rights of the unborn, and to end abortion.
Fr. Philip continues: “Unfortunately, it’s hard to do that in a culture that encourages us to worship at the altar of self-glorification…The sad truth is that even those who succeed in such idolatry are still miserable, are still looking for true peace, joy, and fulfillment..Saint Paul said of himself, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” In other words, by dying to his sins, Paul became a living icon of the Lord. Our Saviour’s glorification of humanity was made present in Paul’s life. He became truly himself in the divine image and likeness by sharing in the Lord’s death and resurrection.”
Join me on Sunday as we partake of the Holy Mysteries so that His life becomes ours, and we no longer live for ourselves but for Christ Jesus.
In Christ,
